If the file crashed while you were using it, then it means the process was triggers by compatibility, another application, or by application itself. First thing to do in these cases it to repair the software using its uninstaller. Access Control panel > Programs and features > Uninstall a program and click Uninstall/Remove then select Repair. Additionally, right click the executable and select Properties > Compatibility. Choose another Windows version and you're good to go. The application should work now.
